mIbrosia concert on 10 January 2009

Last Saturday was the day of the mbrosia concert(as shown above) held at the Singapore Conference Hall.Victoria School Concert Band was invited as a guest band for the concert. This was the last public performance before SYF2009 which was going to be held during April 2009. For all the band practices i have been to (since 3 January 2009),I knew that they were putting in a lot of effort in perfecting the two pieces they were going to perform on the night of the concert.I was very confident that they were going to outperform the rest of the 4 bands-Manjusri Concert Band, Chai Chee Military Band and Gan Eng Seng Military Band.

On the morning of the concert, I woke up at 6.30 a.m because the band needed to fall-in at 9.30a.m. I wanted to reach school early so that I could have some time to practice playing my trumpet because I started playing the trumpet only this year. I was a so-called noobie because I started 1 year later than my other Sec 2 batchmates.How embarrasing!I reached school 1 hour before fall-in time. I spend it practicing blowing the first 3 notes on the trumpet. I had a little bit of difficulty because my mouth placement was wrong.Anyway,back to the topic.The band practiced their pieces while I practiced in the storeroom.From the way they were playing,I knew that they were going to do well for the concert.I was very confident.

We left for the concert venue which is at the Singapore concert hall at 1p.m.I was informed to sit in the woodwinds bus.On the way to the venue,I did nothing but outside the window because i was too shy to talk to my batchmates.I regretted joining band late but I knew I made th right decision for myself.We reached the venue at about 2p.m.

The Singapore Concert Hall was very big.It was the place where the Singapore Chinese Orchestra played.I was very amazed because it was my first time going there.We went straight to the concert hall to settle down and practiced our pieces and watch the other participating schools play.

After the rehearsal, the bands were informed to go to their respective room to place their instruments,change into the band uniform and eat.I helped my batchmates who needed help with carrying their instruments.I was like the helper.I hoped that I would play my instrument better and the next time there was a concert,I will be the one playing and not helping.

After preparing and waiting for the other schools to finish their pieces,it was time for VSCB to perform.I was very anxious but I wasn't even playing.I sat in the the room waiting for the perforance to end.I saw other schools in a happy mood.They took pictures with their batchmates
and laughed.I could here the pieces which VSCB was playing very softly.I did not know whether they were doing well or not.After about 20 minutes,they arrived.Their facial expressions were not very happy.I could here murmurings that they did not do well.I did not want to know the reason why because I did not want to blame anyone or any section.

We went back to school at about 11p.m.In the bus,the band was very cheery and did not show signs of unhappy thoughts about the concert.I managed start a conversation with Daryl Nigel,my classmate.We talked until we reached school.There was a short briefing and we weredismissed.I was very relieved because bus 55 arrived.I thought it was very late and the bus stopped coming.

I went home and thought about writing this because it was an English project about blogging and that is the reason why I wrote this.I hope(you readers)liked it and please comment.
